The Cabinet has welcomed the results of the meeting of the 42nd session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), which was held Tuesday in Riyadh, the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Cabinet stressed that the decisions, recommendations and positions contained in the Riyadh Declaration issued by the summit, and included in its final communique, represent a new starting point for the process of joint Gulf action towards more cooperation and strategic integration among the GCC states, unifying visions, facing challenges, mobilising energies to develop and strengthen the GCC role to achieve the aspirations of its peoples, and effectively contributing to maintaining the regional security and stability and protecting world peace.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan Wednesday.
Following the meeting, HE Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Sulaiti issued a statement, containing the proceedings of the session.
At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet conveyed its highest congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on the occasion of the Qatar National Day and also sent congratulations to the honourable Qatari people.
On this glorious occasion, the Cabinet expressed pride in what the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, laid down of solid and sound foundations for building the state, and the values, principles and foundations that he instilled on the path of the modern State of Qatar, as well as the state's gains and achievements during its blessed march and its current accomplishments under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir in terms of a comprehensive development renaissance in all fields, a prominent position and an effective positive role regionally and internationally, and a solid national unity and popular will capable of continuing the process of construction, development and giving for the sake of Qatar and the future of its future generations.
The Cabinet listened to the explanation given by HE the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments to limit the Covid-19 spread, where the Cabinet affirmed the continuation of work with the precautionary measures that have been taken to combat the pandemic.
The Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:
First - The Cabinet approved a draft law regulating the ownership of real estate in the country by diplomatic and consular missions, and referring it to the Shura Council.
The preparation of the draft law comes to replace Law No. 1 of 1980 regulating the ownership of real estate by foreign missions in the State of Qatar, and within the framework of modernising legislation.
Second - The Cabinet approved a draft decision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry regarding the fulfillment of the requirements for combating money laundering and terrorist financing related to commercial companies.
Third - The Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understanding on cooperation and exchange of experiences in the various fields of strategic development planning between the Government of Qatar and the Government of Kuwait.
Fourth - The Cabinet reviewed the results of the following two meetings and took the appropriate decision:
1- The 22nd meeting of the Ministerial Committee concerned with the implementation of decisions related to joint work in the GCC states (October 2021, via videoconferencing).
2- The 68th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean (October 2021, via videoconferencing).
