Noble International School (NIS) in association with Indian Sports Centre (ISC) organised the largest inter-school chess tournament for students of Indian schools in Qatar. More than 200 participated from 17 Indian schools. Bhavan's Public School won the overall championship, DPS-Modern Indian School was the first runner-up and Pearl Modern School the second runner-up. Indian embassy first secretary (culture and education) Sachin Dinkar Shankpal was the chief guest and ISC president Dr Mohan Thomas spoke. NIS chairman Hussain Mohamed U presided. General secretary Basheer K P and academic director Muneer Ahmed were present.
NIS principal Shibu Abdul Rasheed welcomed the gathering and vice principal Robin K Jose proposed the vote of thanks. The event was led by Physical Education Department head Saril N R, vice principal (academics) Jayamon Joy, section heads Shihabudheen M, Nizar K, CCA co-ordinator Mohamed Hassan and physical education teachers Antony Germans, Joyce Manuel and Anju A.
