The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Department of Radiation and Chemicals Protection, organized the first seminar on nuclear and radiation safety related to radiological applications and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy for companies working in the industrial fields concerned with industrial photography and nuclear measurements for major petroleum companies in the oil and gas industry.

This seminar aims to strengthen the control of radiological applications in the State of Qatar and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and to enhance partnership and confidence of private companies working in these fields with the country's regulatory authority represented by the Department of Radiation and Chemicals Protection.

The seminar included a definition of laws, regulations and decisions related to radiological and nuclear work, in addition to radiation protection programs, inspection of facilities, issuance of licenses, challenges and suggestions facing companies, radiological and nuclear emergencies, and how to enhance radiation control in the Qatari environment to provide the highest standards of radiological and nuclear work in accordance with international standards issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and best practices in this regard.
