Q) Medical investment has become one of the prominent areas of activity for Alfardan group lately... what are your efforts in this sector?

Alfardan Group ventured into Qatar’s medical services sector with the launch of Alfardan Medical with Northwestern Medicine (AMNM). This is Alfardan Group’s first investment in the healthcare sector, as part of its social responsibility towards the State of Qatar and its vision to develop projects that will contribute to the realisation of the Qatar National Vision. Alfardan Group’s entry into the medical sector marks the opening of a new chapter in the Group’s success as one of Qatar’s pioneering business leaders for over 65 years, which has seen the Group grow to become one of the premier family-owned conglomerates for several business lines in the region.
Alfardan Group carried out a rigorous assessment of healthcare systems with the appropriate medical expertise and reputation prior to selecting Northwestern Medicine to provide the guidance, oversight, and advice for both the construction and operation of the new facility. The Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine is one of the United States’ premier academic health systems, anchored by Northwestern Memorial Hospital, one of the top ranked hospitals in the United States. The partnership between Alfardan Group and Northwestern Medicine for AMNM leverages both organisations’ complementary strengths: Alfardan Group’s legacy and scale in offering hospitality and luxury experiences, and Northwestern Medicine’s longstanding history and leadership in the medical field.
AMNM is delivering advanced integrated healthcare by leveraging Northwestern Medicine’s expertise in medical services and the Alfardan Group’s renowned capacity for service excellence. Q) The 2022 World Cup is one of the most prominent events to take place in the country during the next year... what is there to say about the efforts and actions of Alfardan group in regard to this mega event?

Alfardan Group is looking forward to supporting the Qatari government in delivering a successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ by offering a world-class exclusive experience to visitors across Alfardan Group properties and hospitality during the major sporting event. Visitors will get to reside in some of the Group's five-star hotel properties during their stay, while enjoying a culinary experience like no other. In 2021, FACT Dining Awards lauded nine Alfardan Group food and beverage outlets for their fine-dining experiences, showcasing Alfardan Hospitality’s commitment to delivering exclusive experiences to its guests. From shopping the finest jewellery, to high-quality medical care and award-wining dining experiences, Alfardan Group is ready to make the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ a memorable and distinct experience for all.

Q) What about the efforts of Alfardan Group when it comes to social responsibility?

Alfardan Group has endorsed several projects and initiatives in line with the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to promote the highest standards of living among the citizens and residents of the country. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important part of Alfardan Group’s corporate values. Having prospered in Qatar and grown internationally, Alfardan Group feels a strong responsibility towards the advancement of the community.
Through the Tariqi Programme, we support the future leaders of Qatar. Launched in 2006, the Alfardan scholarship Tariqi Programme, which means ‘my path’ in English, is intended to provide financial support to students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence. Funding covers the full tuition fees for the duration of the student's undergraduate career, paid directly to the student's institution of choice. Students are eligible for the programme funding as long as they maintain the required GPA.
In terms of sustainability, Alfardan Properties has been recognised by Qatar’s National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) for the success of its energy efficiency initiative across its projects. These include the implementation of a district cooling plant, the deployment of motion detection sensors in public areas, as well as introduction of a greywater treatment plant. This comes as part of Alfardan Group’s dedication to work towards a coordinated and pioneering sustainability program and accomplish the goals set forth by the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Earlier this year, Alfardan Automotive signed an MoU with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, for providing free electric vehicle (EV) charging units and maintaining them at some of Alfardan Group’s most prominent properties including Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The St. Regis Doha, and Alfardan Towers. The signing of this agreement contributes to the establishment of an infrastructure of charging stations across the country, which supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030 in becoming more sustainable.
In addition, recently, Burj Alfardan, located in Lusail smart city’s most coveted Marina District, has been awarded the title ‘Best International Commercial High-Rise Development’ at the 2020 International Property Awards for its outstanding architectural design, development, and sustainability aspects, in addition to receiving a Green Commercial Building title by the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation, at the fourth annual Qatar Sustainability Awards held recently. The St. Regis Doha, received a Green Key award, the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. The award is a testament to The St. Regis Doha’s responsible act towards the environment and for raising environmental awareness to its guests and staff. This is in addition to an upcoming Alfardan partnership with a local recycling company.
