As part of India @75 years of independence celebrations, Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and to commemorate 152nd Birth Anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) organised a weeklong event starting with a beach cleaning at Al Shamal, Fariha, tree plantation at Old Airport Park and Vande Bharat Celebrations by affiliated organisations from October 2 to 9.
Samanvayam, in co-ordination of sisterly organisations and associations such as Punarjanani, Science India Forum, Bharathi Mandram and Sanskriti Sangam presented hour-long presentations of patriotic, dance, songs and drama named Vande Mataram. The skit on Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru was directed by M P Radhakrishnan. Dance performances by two teams were choreographed by Seema and Vasundradevi.
Indian embassy first secretary Sachin Dinkar Sankhpal was the chief guest, ICC president P N Baburajan and general secretary Krishnakumar Bandkavi the guests of honour. Samanvayam vice president Kunal Singh Dabi welcomed the attendees. President Shreedevi Ananthakrishnan, Sankhpal and Bandikavi spoke. Samanvayam general secretary Ravindra Prasad proposed a vote of thanks. The event was anchored by Vidya Suresh.
