The health control section in the Municipal Control Department of Doha Municipality inspected 3,650 food establishments in September and issued 137 seizure reports for violation of Law No 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control.
It also issued and implemented 10 closure decisions against violating food establishments, while there was reconciliation with 117 violating facilities. Legal measures were being taken against the remaining violators, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said in a statement.
As part of the department’s preparations for the FIFA Arab Cup, inspection campaigns were intensified in areas such as Katara - the Cultural Village, The Pearl-Qatar, Souq Waqif and the Corniche, where the department carried out 376 inspection tours, issued three violation notices and collected 276 food samples for analysis in the central laboratory of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
The awareness team of the MME has carried out campaigns for the employees of 245 food establishments in commercial complexes and associations.
