Selwin Shine Saju, a visually impaired student of Birla Public School, is a great example for insight learning.
During to the pandemic, when even students with endowed abilities have struggled to perform academically, Selwin - with 100% visual impairment - has excelled in the Central Board of Secondary Education exams 2020-21 with an aggregate of 90% for six subjects.
Having an ingenious attitude and responsibility towards studies, Selwin has always been a bright student, even during his primary years at the Al Noor Institute for Blind. The Braille system helped him a lot to learn but when schooling became completely online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he faced many technical hurdles to learning.
Well supported by parents Saju Samuel and Mary Saju and his teachers, Selwin continued to overcome all challenges.
The constant monitoring and guidance from principal A P Sharma and vice-principal Rajesh Pillai also helped Selwin succeed.
“As parents, we are extremely delighted to see him accomplish one of the most important milestones in his life," said his proud mother. "I appreciate all the students and the staff of Birla Public School for being empathetic and supportive," she added.
Selwin is grateful to all teachers who supported him to study well and understand the concepts. "I wouldn’t have achieved this without the constant love and support from my parents”.
Selwin had never lacked tenacity to be triumphant. His hard work in secondary school has paid off and he has started pursuing his senior grades in Birla Public School itself.
