Carrying the colours of her owner Khalfan bin Mohameed al-Suwiadi, Myth Style broke her maiden in the Prix du Conseil Municipal du la Ville de Dax, a maiden for three-year-olds, at the Dax Racecourse yesterday.
Trained by Charles Gourdain in Pau, the bay filly was having her fifth racecourse start and took the six-runner contest in fine style, under a cool ride by Maxime Foulon.
Quickly away from her wide draw, Myth Style was immediately placed behind the early leader, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani-owned and bred Marjann for the 2,100m contest.
The field was well spaced out heading down the back straight and Myth Spirit always travelled strongly. On the turn for home, she made a sweeping move around the leader as the field came across to the stand side.
Myth Style was asked to stretch clear inside the final 400m and quickly built a gap on his rivals. She went on to score by just over a length at the line from the rallying Marjann while Apres La Guerre was further four lengths back in third.
Bred by her owner, Myth Style is by Haras du Grand Courgeon’s stallion Style Vendome (Anabaa). Her dam Tis Mighty won two races and finished third in the Listed Hyde Stakes at Kempton Park. The second dam Floating Agenda won a two-year-old Leopardstown maiden when trained by Dermot Weld.
