ICAI Doha Chapter holds online event on ‘Smart Strategies for Mutual Fund Investment’

The Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has recently organised a virtual session on ‘Smart Strategies for Mutual Fund Investment’.
The event, which gathered nearly 100 participants from Doha Chapter of ICAI, was opened by Rakesh Bahety, Excom member, who also introduced chapter chairperson, Nirlep Bhatt.
Bhatt welcomed the audience and gave a broad outline of the various innovative initiatives of the chapter and introduced chief guest Hemant Kumar Dwivedi, first secretary (Culture & Education) at the Embassy of India in Doha.
Dwivedi lauded the ICAI Doha Chapter for conducting professionally useful seminars for members to add value to their careers and enhance knowledge and sharpen skills. He also discussed various areas in which the Indian Embassy is providing invaluable guidance to the chapter activities and to the larger Indian community. In his motivational address, Dwivedi assured continuous support to ICAI Doha Chapter and chartered accountants in Qatar.
Anupam Roongta, certified financial planner, was the speaker for the event. He was introduced by Arun Somanath, excom member, who also moderated the Q&A session.
Roongta’s session covered various facets and dimensions of investment. He explained various categories of the funds in great detail and elaborated the concept of ‘skin-in the game’ with relevant examples. He also suggested avoiding certain categories of funds. Also, Roongta shared valuable tips and nuances to ensure the growth of the portfolio and capital appreciation.
Dewaki Nandan Tibrewal, excom member, proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guest, speaker, sponsors, and chapter members. The attendees lauded the chapter for organising an event with the presence of eminent dignitaries, with intense interest, enthusiastic participation, a quality speaker, positive feedback, and an insightful Q&A.
The Doha Chapter of ICAI was established in 1981 and is the oldest among the 43 overseas chapters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The chapter currently has 350 members, who hold key positions in private and public sector establishments in Qatar and are actively supporting the development of the accounting profession in Qatar.
The chapter is actively involved in enhancing and updating the professional knowledge of its members, local professionals, and non-members. ICAI Doha Chapter is the first professional membership body to be registered with Qatar Financial Centre.
