The General Authority of Customs (GAC) received a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) during July 27-29, to review the readiness of the unified customs requirements and standards at the customs points, as part of completing the final requirements for the GCC Customs Union.

The delegation met Mohamed Ahmed al-Mohannadi, assistant chairman of GAC, who listened to the explanation of the delegation about the objectives of the visit and the importance of the future strategy of the customs information centre project. Accordingly, the delegation conducted a field tour at a number of customs points in the country including the Sea Customs Department at Hamad Port, and Land Customs at Abu Samra Land Post, and the main headquarters of GAC to study the current technical situation of the entry and customs points among the GCC countries and prepare a comprehensive study on the future strategy of the customs information centre project. This would further ease the entry of goods among the GCC countries without the need to repeat the customs clearance procedures at the different entry points among them.
