HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan Wednesday.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie issued the following statement:
The Cabinet expressed great satisfaction for Qatar's leadership in the Middle East and North Africa region in the Global Peace Index issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace in Australia, where it achieved first place for the 13th consecutive year and 29th in the world.
The index shows that Qatar is among the first, safest and secure countries in terms of crime rate out of 163 countries included in the index.
The Cabinet affirmed that this achievement was attained under the wise directives of HH the Amir and thanks to the comprehensive security strategy of the Ministry of Interior and the efforts of its various departments.
Then, the Cabinet was briefed by HE the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments in efforts to curb Covid-19, the Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the procedures and precautionary measures that have been taken in order to combat this pandemic.
The Cabinet also listened to a presentation made by HE the President of the Planning and Statistics Authority on the first quarterly follow-up report for the year 2021 on the implementation of projects of strategic plans for the ministries, in which he dealt with the progress of programs and projects at the level of ministries and at the level of sectors, the most important outputs and progress made in implementing the projects of those plans, its objectives and the most prominent challenges, the Cabinet also affirmed on the importance of the Ministries' co-operation with the Planning and Statistics Authority to follow up the completion and implementation of the projects.
Then, the Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:
First: Take the necessary measures to issue a draft law on the protection of trademarks, copyright and the related rights of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), and that after the Cabinet reviewed the recommendation of the Shura Council on the draft law.
Second: Approval of the draft decision of the Minister of Education and Higher Education to amend some provisions of Resolution No./40/ of 2017 in the executive regulations of Law No.
23 of 2015 regulating private schools.
Third: Approval of the participation of HE Minister of Education and Higher Education in the membership of the Board of Directors of the Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE), which was established in Saudi Arabia under the auspice of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).Fourth: Approval of:
1. A draft air transport agreement between Qatar as a first party and the European Union and its member states as a second party.
2. A draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
