A joint campaign to remove abandoned vehicles at the Doha Industrial Area was launched Sunday by the committee concerned, the Mechanical Equipment Department, the Public Cleanliness Department and Doha Municipality, to enforce the stipulations of Law no 18 for 2017 on Public Hygiene.

Hamad Sultan al-Shahwani, head of the General Control Section at Doha Municipality and member of the Committee to Remove Abandoned Vehicles, was present at the campaign launch alongside a number of personnel from the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya), municipality officials and employees and representatives from the participating entities.
Al-Shahwani explained that the campaign at the Industrial Area, considered the last part of the first phase, will continue for two weeks until all spotted abandoned vehicles are removed. As per the schedule adopted earlier for 2021 by the committee, the campaign is to be carried out in two phases to cover all the municipalities, at a rate of two campaigns per municipality. The second phase is set to start during July at Al Shamal municipality.
The committee started its work at Al Shamal, followed by Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Al Daayen, Umm Slal, Al Sheehaniya, Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Wakra.
Al-Shahwani also pointed out that around 7,000 abandoned vehicles were removed from across the country since January 2021. In addition, around 700 to 800 abandoned vehicles have been spotted at the Industrial Area, due to the large number of garages and workshops.
