Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment's Public Parks Department assistant director Mohamed Ibrahim al-Saada planted trees in a ceremony at Mamoura Park on Monday.
Indian embassy first secretary (consular and community affairs) S Xavier Dhanraj and governing body members of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) were also present at the event organised by the ICC in collaboration with the Public Parks Department as part of its World Environmental Day celebrations. ICC conducted a weeklong event of planting saplings at multiple locations across Qatar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mittal, appreciated and congratulated the Public Parks Department’s efforts in promoting tree plantation across the country with a target of one million saplings. He highlighted that the whole population of Qatar will get the benefits of promoting a green environment and reiterated the commitment of the Indian community towards achieving the objectives of this year's theme “Ecosystem Restoration”.
