Doha Festival City (DHFC) is welcoming Eid al-Fitr with a variety of online activities starting from the first day of Eid. From May 12, DHFC will display Eid al-Fitr greeting message on all digital screens, as well as several installations allowing visitors to take special Eid al-Fitr pictures. Beautiful Eid decorations will adorn the mall inside and outside.
DHFC invites everyone to express their love and gratitude this Eid by sharing photos with Eid al-Fitr messages and post them on their public accounts with the hashtag #EidatFestivalCity, tagging @dohafestcity. Selected pictures will be displayed on the dedicated media wall at the 1st floor Centre Court, starting tomorrow (May 13).
To make Eid celebrations even more exciting for families, while following the current guidelines that restrict access to the mall for children below 16, DHFC will run a social media photo competition, that will allow kids to take part in the mall’s celebrations from the safety of their homes.
Encouraging parents to dress their kids in the best Eid outfits and post a photo on their public accounts with the hashtag #EidatFestivalCity and follow @dohafestcity, DHFC will award the winner with a special gift – hadiya – of QR1,000. The online competition is open to all children up to 12 and three lucky winners will be announced on the May 17.
“We are delighted to celebrate Eid al-Fitr this year with safe and interactive artworks and engaging activities, allowing our visitors to create the loveliest memories this Eid, in the mall and virtually. We welcome everyone to experience the spirit of Eid al-Fitr and celebrate this joyous occasion with Doha Festival City,” DHFC general manager Robert Hall said in a press statement.
A special “Eid Mubarak” display at the Atrium Node near West Court 1 Entrance will also consist of a large lantern for families to take pictures, as well as a book-shaped part with Eid greetings in different languages, offering visitors an opportunity to learn more about Eid al-Fitr wishes and greetings from around the world.
Axis node installations will boast various shapes, colours, and symbols of Eid where shoppers will also be able to take creative pictures, keeping the warmest memories of 2021 Eid celebrations.
In addition, a 3D lettering “What A Feeling” and an “Eid Mubarak” displays will be located at Market Node, where visitors can also take photos and share them on social media.
Until May 15, general mall trading hours will be from 10am to 12midnight, with an option to trade until 1am for all retailers, and 2am for F&B outlets operating for takeaway and delivery. The Hypermarket will be open continuously from 9am to 12midnight.
In line with the preventative measures set out by the authorities, DHFC introduced stringent health and safety measures throughout the mall for its staff and visitors. This includes a thorough mall disinfection treatment on a weekly basis, robust cleaning, and sanitisation operations during mall trading hours, 225 hand sanitising stations installed in the areas that have commonly touched surfaces.
At the entrance to the mall and all shops, visitors must show their green Ehteraz QR code, and should wear a face mask during their whole time in the mall. Following the latest government restrictions, children below 16 years old are not allowed to enter the mall, and the mall continues to operate with overall capacity and parking spaces reduced to 30%.
