The Qatari delegation to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is expected to be amongst the largest business delegations yet to be formed for an external forum of this type, noted Qatari-Russian Center for Co-operation
Qatar will become the “guest country” at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2021 from June 2-5, the Doha-based Qatari-Russian Center for Co-operation (QRCC) said on Wednesday.
The Qatari delegation to the SPIEF is expected to be amongst the largest business delegations yet to be formed for an external forum of this type, QRCC said quoting the Qatari Media Relations Office at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
This, it said, reiterates Qatar’s commitment to expanding the bilateral economic ties with the Russian Federation and expanding them to new horizons. The delegation includes more than 50 Qatari organisations with businessmen, high-ranking officials and political figures, heads of authorities and civil society organisations.
Within the framework of the SPIEF business programme, discussions will be held on the industrial, economic, investment, technological, educational, cultural and sports potential of the State of Qatar. The SPIEF exhibition programme will be enhanced by the Qatar Pavilion, representing multiple Qatari entities and hosting bilateral meetings, debates, and round tables on Qatar's bilateral engagement with Russia and other countries.
An extensive programme of Qatari cultural events has also been prepared. It will be held within the framework of the Forum at various venues around St Petersburg. Residents and guests of St Petersburg may also attend the events of this cultural programme.
“Such a large-scale representation of the State of Qatar at SPIEF 2021 is the best proof of the vast prospects for co-operation between Qatar and Russia and the desire of the parties to deepen and expand relations,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser al-Thani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation.
“We are confident that our collaboration through this important forum will be productive. We look forward to forging new partnerships and expanding the trade and economic ties. Being a guest country contributes to this very well.”
