HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, who is also the Chairman of the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), praised on Tuesday the establishment of a branch for the organisation in Nigeria, stressing that it will be an important milestone with positive ramifications for the organisation's activity in the African continent, given Nigeria's leading role regionally and internationally.
HE al-Mahmoud said in the opening session of a meeting of the organisation's Nigerian branch, held via video conference, that GOPAC will provide all the possible technical assistance to this branch and all other branches all over the world, to enable them to carry out their role and realise the organisation's goals of contributing to the fight against corruption. The establishment of the new branch was in response to the invitation made by HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud to parliament speakers all over the world to establish branches of the organisation in their regions, to better serve sustainable development and achieve the organisation's goals.
