Qatar University’s (QU) Student Clubs and Organizations carried out more than 150 events and activities this year. The activities and events were organised by about 54 accredited student clubs and organisations at the campus.
The Students Club and Organizations manages activities for students and provides them the opportunity to organise events. This year students organised events in keeping with the precautionary measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The clubs and organisations are led by a student leadership team trained and motivated for achievements that inspire fellow students to join the the club or organisation.
The activities included a number of conferences, seminars, competitions and partnerships with international institutions in Qatar, in addition to providing scientific instructions through social networking sites. A number of campaigns and community charitable programmes were organised with more scheduled to be held by the end of the year.
The programmes include educational and religious activities during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the statistics of the student clubs and organisations, a rapid increase in number of students was witnessed this year, with member-numbers reaching 10,937, as against 7,796 in 2019.
The achievements and awards notched up by the clubs and student organisations include: the Arab Debating Club participated in the Gulf Debating Championship organised by Kuwait University, and student Mohamed al-Yafei won the title of ‘The Best Speaker in the Tournament.’
The Toastmaster Club at Qatar University, which is a branch for the Toastmasters International Organisation in California, aims to develop public speaking, communication and leadership skills. The award for the most effective member for the month of January and February was won by the students Ahmed al-Halhali, and Abdulrahman Mohamed.


The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Engineers, University branch, Qatar, was awarded the regional model student branch award. The association was granted the award by the main international society owing to the excellent performance of the society at Qatar University through its many activities and contributions in academic, scientific, developmental and social journals.

Prof. Abdullah al-Mulla, Director of Student Activities Department, said, “We are committed to encouraging and helping students participate in these student organisations, programmes and activities aimed directly at enabling students to work within groups dominated by a professional work environment that applies democratic procedures and supports integration and attention to vital issues.”
