The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (3-2-1 QOSM), part of Qatar Museums (QM), will host the inaugural Sports Values First Forum on March 29 under the theme 'Between the Past and the Future'. The forum’s first edition, to be held virtually, will feature discussion sessions, a virtual exhibition and sports e-competitions.
The forum, to be held annually, focuses on sports values, ethics and work by hosting a group of leading sports figures. QOSM will lead the forum in partnership with several organisations, including Qatar University, Aspire Academy, the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Olympic Academy.
Abdulla Y al-Mulla, director of 3-2-1 QOSM, said: “The Olympic and Sports Museum seeks to inspire and encourage the community to follow a healthy and active lifestyle. As part of the annual event, the museum will host a series of educational programs across Qatar in cooperation with partner institutions. We are pleased to invite members of the community to join the Sports Values First Forum to be held virtually later this month.”
In its first edition, the forum will shine a light on several topics relating to sports and Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship throughout history with a specific focus on Arab and Islamic identity. Main topics include sports, youth and community building; promoting Qatari culture through FIFA World Cup 2022; integration of sports to accommodate disabilities; and Olympic values.
Through this forum, 3-2-1 QOSM aims to promote a culture of sports ethics among community members, introducing them to the most important international sporting moments throughout history, and spreading knowledge and information on Olympic and sports values, QM has said in a statement. The museum further seeks to strengthen relations and increase interdependence between sporting institutions in Qatar, and to address youth and students in Qatar and abroad, as well as promote sports institutions and highlight their mission and goals, the statement adds.
The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, to open at Khalifa International Stadium later this year, is the first museum in the Middle East dedicated to achievement in sport. Promoting physical education and wellness for all, the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum "employs the most innovative technology to create immersive exhibits to tell the story of sports in Qatar and across the world".
Sports are a key element of Qatar’s culture and the museum is "committed to providing engaging education on the vital role that athletics play in contemporary society, while inspiring everyone to be physically active, whatever their ability".
