The Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Interior organised virtual scientific forum on the role of women in the national preventive effort against the coronavirus (Covid-19).
A number of female participants from the various departments of the ministry, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society took part in the forum.
The forum is aimed at raising the participants' awareness of human rights in light of the coronavirus pandemic and the role of women in this regard and devoting the department's efforts to spread the culture of human rights in conjunction with the celebrations of the Arab Human Rights Day (March 16), which is celebrated this year under the slogan: The Right to Health, and International Women's Day on March 8.
During the forum, legal expert and head of the technical office at the department Wadha al-Ghanim reviewed the Arab League's concepts of human rights, and the implications of the slogan celebrating the Arab Human Rights Day - "The Right to Health". NHRC member and head of the Psychological Sciences Department at Qatar University Dr Asma al-Attiyah, discussed the psychological and social dimensions of the pandemic and the role of women in combating and preventing them.
Head of the Vaccination Department at the Ministry of Public Health Dr Soha al-Bayat pointed to the efforts of the White Army and the role of women working in the medical field in addressing coronavirus disease.
Social Researcher at the Human Rights Department Mai Khamis al-Dosari reviewed the role of the Ministry of Interior in the national effort to prevent the pandemic.
The forum also featured extensive discussions about the role of women and their efforts to support strategic plans to confront the pandemic.
