Vodafone Qatar continues to display its role as an important technology partner supporting the country’s sports sector as the Official Communications Partner of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters for the second year in a row.
As part of the sponsorship, Vodafone’s GigaNet network will power the tournament venue — Education City Golf Club — with both fibre and mobile coverage, including 5G, giving the organisers, players and spectators the crucial seamless connectivity needed. This connectivity will also enable the live TV broadcasting of the tournament around the world.
Taking place from March 11-14, the Qatar Masters, now in its 24th year, is a major feature on the European Tour Calendar, attracting the world’s top golf talent. There are 144 competitors from 33 countries at this year’s tournament, competing for a USD 1.5mn prize fund.
Communications infrastructure that can deliver the capacity and speeds of the Vodafone network has become increasingly important to enhance the overall experience of live sporting events. Vodafone’s advanced network that has recently undergone significant enhancements is playing a vital role in many of the country’s highly successful local and international sporting events, most recently at His Highness The Amir Sword Competition 2021 and inaugural Katara International Arabian Horse Festival.
