The ICC Students Forum has been inaugurated by Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) has announced.
The forum will serve as a platform for Indian students in honing their talent, skills and knowledge.
In his address at a virtual meeting, the ambassador stressed that "students are the minds of enquiry, spirit of enquiry", and "everyday in life is an examination".
Dr Mittal's speech also referred to student hobbies and their importance. "The ICC Students Forum platform can raise the creativity and explore the possibilities of becoming proficient.
The event was attended by nearly 150 participants, including officials from the Indian embassy and schools, parents, community leaders and students representing the schools.
Hassan Chougule, senior community leader and president of DPS-Modern Indian School group of institutions; Manikandan AP, former ICC president; Sonny Varghese, senior educationist; and Ziad Usman, Indian Community Benevolent Forum president, spokes on the occasion.
Kamala Thakur, ICC management committee head of activities and education, opened the meeting, after which Krishna Kumar, general secretary, welcomed the gathering.
ICC president P N Baburajan presided over the meeting while Sudhir Gupta presented the vote of thanks.
All Indian community leaders and participants of the inaugural meeting appreciated the concept of promoting a student platform for exploring talents, creativity and innovative approaches in dealing with issues by next-generation Indians, ICC said in a press statement.
