Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) has appointed Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad as executive director of the Administration and Finance Division.

In a statement, Dr Abdelwahab El-Affendi, DI acting president, welcomed al-Misnad and noted that her experience and managerial expertise would contribute to the achievement of the DI's strategic vision and academic objectives.

Al-Misnad has over 15 years of experience in institutional work, focusing on management and strategic planning in community, educational and development institutions at the local, regional and international levels.

Through her role in executive management, al-Misnad has been able to develop management systems, strategic and operational plans and oversee their implementation, improve the performance of employees and institutions, in addition to qualify these organisations for international accreditation, such as ISO.

She holds an Executive Master's degree in strategic planning and business administration from HEC Paris (2014), and she is also a graduate of Qatar Leadership Centre's Executive Leadership programme (2017). She is a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Public Administration and Development Economics (Spade) at Doha Institute.

Al-Misnad has served as an executive director of the Orphans Care Centre (Dreama) and Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman), regional director of communication and awareness campaigns of Education Above All Foundation in 2013, and director of Media and Communication at Social Rehabilitation Centre in 2011.

Additionally, she was the acting CEO of Childhood Cultural Centre in 2008 and a member of the Childhood Committee at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in 2006.

Al-Misnad has been awarded the title of Ambassador of Orphans twice in a row, and is the first Gulf woman to receive this award by the Higher Committee organising the Sanabil Award for Social Responsibility in the Gulf Co-operationCouncil countries. She has also contributed to sensitising the community to the most critical issues related to the education of children in areas of armed conflicts in order to raise public awareness in the local and international communities.
