Al Shaqab Racing’s Divertissement, a daughter of the Haras du Bouquetot sire Shalaa, maintained her unbeaten record in the Prix des Landes (a class two race), at Bordeaux-le-Bouscat on Sunday. A little keen in the early stages, among the backmarkers at the entrance of the straight, and in a race in which the lead changed hands, she courageously took the spoils by a quarter-of-a-length. Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, she had won on her debut in good style at Cagnes-sur-Mer on January 18.
Her jockey, Hugo Mouesan, said: “It was a bit of a tactical affair, there wasn’t much pace and we had a bit of luck as the gaps opened up on the inside. She didn’t win by much but did it nicely. Given the lack of tempo, she raced a bit freely in the initial stages before showing a neat turn of foot.”
Divertissement holds entries in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, the Prix de Diane and the Prix Saint-Alary.
