This year, the organizing committee decided to hold two student competitions which included the logon of Qatar National Environment Day and the ‘Environmental article’ competition.
These two competitions are open to bachelor's and postgraduate students at the College of Arts and Science at QU.
These two topics give students opportunity to present their writing skills on environmental topics and design efficiency.
The idea of the two precedents of Qatar National Environment Day in Qatar 2021 revolves around the vision and mission of the Department of Biological and Environmental to promote environmentally friendly solutions: green technology.
The Department will also continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to plan several joint activities and campaigns related to the Million Tree Planting Initiative in the State of Qatar. The department will also urge postgraduate students to write research proposals for the success of this initiative.
The campaign to plant 1 million trees in the country, means increasing biodiversity, reducing dust air pollution, reducing carbon emissions and reducing soil contamination with hydrocarbons and toxic heavy metals. This is in addition to the positive psychological impact that trees have on human health and life.
