Birla Public School (BPS) vice-principals Radhika Rele and Rajesh Pillai have received the AKS Global Teacher Award 2020, it has been announced.
They were chosen for their "incredible skills, unstoppable spirit, remarkable work and valuable contribution in the field of education", the school said in a statement.
Rele and Pillai received the award along with other winners from nearly 110 countries.
Rele has been associated with BPS for the past four years. She has 18 years of experience in the field of education.
Her role as an educator includes academic pedagogy, academic audits and teacher training.
Pillai has an association of almost three years with BPS and holds an experience of 19 years in the field of pedagogy and educational administration.
Their dedication and efforts were recognised on a global platform through a virtual award ceremony organised in December 2020.
The award adds to the many accolades received by Birla Public School, Doha.
AKS Education Awards initiated this prestigious recognition, the "first-of-its-kind" to recognise excellent teachers from all regions and communities around the the world and highlight their contribution to community building and efforts to help make a better society through inspirational teaching and training, the statement notes.
The Global Teacher Award "aims to actively reach out to all corners of the world to identify and recognise exceptional teachers and leaders who have made an outstanding contribution to their profession".
Principal A P Sharma, the "inspiring force behind this victory", congratulated both the vice-principals and expressed confidence in their exceptional work, the statement added.
