The Indian Cultural Centre's (ICC) new management committee recently held its first associate organisations' virtual meeting.
The response was overwhelming and it was attended by more than 100 participants, ICC said in a statement.
Krishna Kumar, ICC general secretary, started the meeting with a welcome speech. It was followed by the speech of ICC president P N Babu Rajan.
The meeting was later steered by S Xavier Dhanaraj, first secretary at the Indian embassy and co-ordinating officer, ICC.
Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) co-ordinating officer S R H Fahmi and Indian Sports Centre (ISC) co-ordinating officer Capt Mohan Atla spoke about co-ordination among all apex bodies for participation in different events and to make sure to have cross-functional teams.
ICC president Babu Rajan, ISC president Dr Mohan Thomas and ICBF president Ziad Usman expressed happiness at supporting efforts in this regard and co-operation among the apex bodies.
Dr Deepak Mittal, Indian ambassador to Qatar, joined the meeting to address all apex bodies and associate organisations.
He held a brainstorming session on how to organise the 75th Indian Independence Day. "His speech was motivating and inspiring, in showing the way forward to all Indians in Qatar as a whole," the statement noted.
Weekly programmes will be co-ordinated by teams from the associate organisations to showcase India over the next 75 weeks starting from the first week of March.
Babu Rajan had a one-on-one discussion with the associate organisations, which gave more insights into the purpose of the meeting. Many associate organisation representatives expressed confidence and readiness to take part in the programmes.
In the end, Subramanya Hebbagelu, ICC vice-president, gave the vote of thanks and the meeting was adjourned.
