A senior official of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has said failure to follow quarantine measures is one of the biggest reasons for the rise in Covid-19 cases in the country.
Speaking to Qatar TV, Dr Soha al-Bayat, head of vaccination at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), urged the public to follow the quarantine rules.
Underlining the importance of isolation, she said quarantine keeps suspected people away from others and prevents the spread of infection unknowingly.
“When someone is infected, the symptoms usually appear after a few days. The virus concentration increases in the body, making the person a potential infection carrier. When people under quarantine leave home or quarantine facilities, it results in damage to the society," she explained.
Dr al-Bayat also stressed the need for people to comply with all Covid-19 precautionary and preventive measures to prevent the virus from spreading further.
The authorities concerned have been regularly making arrests for violation of home quarantine rules.
