Qatar Museums (QM) yesterday launched a new social media competition encouraging Qatar’s wider community to become local tourists and visit cultural destinations, public art locations and heritage sites.
The #PassGoQatar Monopoly Challenge, which will run until February 17, invites residents to visit destinations that feature on QM’s Monopoly board game.
The competition aims to inspire participants to make new cultural discoveries, unite the community in a playful challenge, and offer an opportunity to win a host of prizes related to Qatar Museums and its venues.
The #PassGoQatar Monopoly Challenge takes the museum experience beyond four walls, inviting the community to discover Qatar’s past, present, and future.
Destinations that can be visited include Richard Serra’s East-West/West-East, Louise Bougreois’ Maman at Qatar National Convention Centre, Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Palace, Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Al-Rekayat Fort and the Unesco world heritage site, Al Zubarah.
Participants will compete for a host of prizes, including the chance to win a VIP exhibition experience and dinner for two at one of QMs’ flagship restaurants: IDAM by Alain Ducasse. Other prizes include dinner for four people at Jiwan restaurant at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), gift vouchers, and a host of limited-edition QM’s branded merchandise.
Those who want to take part in the competition can visit QM’s Instagram page (@qatar_museums) and IN-Q Gift Shop Instagram page (inq_giftshop), which lists details of how to enter and prize categories.
“The QM edition of the Monopoly board game is a popular gift item, which displays many of Qatar’s treasured cultural destinations, public art and heritage sites. The board game enables QM to take the learning experience beyond the walls of our venues and the #PassGoQatar Monopoly Challenge aims to inspire residents and visitors to explore more of Qatar’s distinct landscape, visit historic buildings and enjoy the country’s passion for art and culture,” Phil Lawrie, general manager of IN-Q Enterprises, QM’s commercial organisation, said in a statement.
The QM edition of the Monopoly board game was developed in 2018 by IN-Q Enterprises. This iconic product enables players to compete by trading places of interest around Doha and is an ideal gift for residents or visitors alike who have enjoyed exploring the destinations featured on the board game.
The QM Monopoly board game is available at IN-Q gift shops at MIA, NMoQ, Mathaf: Museum of Arab Modem Art, and at the Cass Art Qatar store. It is also available to purchase online at www.inq–online.com
