The Unified Standing Committee for the Selection of Candidates for Military Officers held its sixth meeting yesterday, headed by HE the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, in the presence of HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Commander of the Lekhwiya Force Major General Abdulaziz bin Faisal al-Thani, and HE Director General of Public Security Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, members of the committee and representatives of other military bodies in the country.
The meeting discussed the important topics of conditions and acceptance of candidates for the current year 2020/2021, and approved the opening of registration tomorrow for boys and girls. In a statement on the sidelines of the meeting, head of the committee’s work team Brigadier General Nasser Abdulrahman al-Jaber indicated that admission will be opened for those wishing to join the various military entities in the country on Thursday, January 28, for high school graduates 2020/2021 through submitting applications on the committee’s website according to the announced conditions, with the aim of competing and gaining the opportunity to join one of the military authorities.
For his part, rapporteur and secretary of the committee for the selection of candidates Lieutenant Colonel Dr Jabr Hamoud Jaber al-Nuaimi revealed during the press conference that the number of applicants for the military bodies in the country had increased in 2020 compared to 2019. He called on students to register early before completing high school exams in order to facilitate the procedures and complete the medical examination and personal interviews procedures, indicating that after the announcement of high school results, those who did not meet the percentage requirement will be excluded. 
Dr al-Nuaimi pointed out that military colleges are under one umbrella, which led to the speedy completion of procedures and the announcement of the results in record time.
Regarding admission and registration conditions for males, Lieutenant Colonel al-Nuaimi explained that these conditions include that the applicant must be a Qatari national, and that he has obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent for the current or previous year with a percentage of not less than 70%, adding that the applicant’s age should be not more than 21 years old on Sept 1, and should be of good reputation, good conduct, and has not been convicted of a criminal penalty or a crime involving breach of honour or trust, unless he has been rehabilitated, and he has not been dismissed from the public service, or from a college or scientific institute by a final judgment or disciplinary decision, and should not be an employee in a governmental or semi-governmental entity, and should pass the prescribed admission tests and medical examination in the relevant committee, and should pass the personal interview.
As for the conditions of admission and registration for females, Lieutenant Colonel al-Nuaimi indicated that they include that the applicant be a Qatari national, and that she has a high school diploma or its equivalent for the current year with a percentage of not less than 80%, and that she should be not more than 22 years old on Sept 1, and should not be an employee in one of the governmental or semi-governmental agencies, should pass the personal interview, and a graduate of the scientific specialisation. The committee has the right to decide to add any other conditions or tests when necessary.
