* Violations reported during inspection campaign conducted by MoCI in co-operation with MoI

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), jointly with the Ministry of Interior (MoI), carried out an inspection campaign at a car repair workshop operating without a commercial licence at a house in Al Aziziyah in violation of Law No 25 of 2005 on Commercial Registration and Law No 5 of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors.

During the campaign

The inspection campaign resulted in the detection and reporting of several violations, including starting and practising an activity without a commercial licence (a car repair workshop), as well as not following public and private rules, the MoCI said in a statement Monday.
Legal actions were taken against the violators, it added.
The inspection campaign forms part of the ministry’s efforts to monitor and regulate markets and commercial activities across Qatar, and to assess the degree of compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities, in a bid to uncover and crack down on violations.
The MoCI stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in Law No 25 of 2005 and Law No 5 of 2015, and that it would intensify its inspection campaigns to crack down on such practices.
Any party that violates laws and ministerial decisions will be referred to the relevant authorities, who would take appropriate measures to protect consumer rights, the statement notes.
The ministry has urged all merchants and shopkeepers to comply with applicable laws and regulations governing commercial activities. To avoid legal accountability, vendors are advised to review all applicable laws and regulations on the MoCI website at www.moci.gov.qa
The ministry has also urged all citizens and residents to report any violations or infractions related to registration and commercial licensing through the call centre: 16001, or its social media accounts - Twitter: @MOCIQATAR and Instagram: MOCIQATAR
