In preparation for Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2021, which will take place from 11 to 14 March, and as part of the initiative to promote the game of golf in Qatar, Commercial Bank and Education City Golf Club have teamed up to support local schools in providing golf training to Physical Education teachers.

On Thursday, January 7th, a team of golf professionals from ECGC paid the Gulf English School a visit and distributed SNAG kits to the teachers after having trained them on how to use the kit.

“Start New at Golf” or SNAG is a unique golf instruction system and equipment that aims to help teachers develop golf skills and a level of competency.

Commenting on the initiative, Michael Braidwood, General Manager at Education City Golf Club said: “To grow the sport of golf it is important that children get the opportunity to learn golf during physical education classes at school. Our train the teacher program supported by Commercial Bank is an excellent initiative to give PE teachers the knowledge, skills, and equipment to offer golf as part of their curriculum. Very quickly they will find children who will be interested or have a special attitude for golf who will want to try golf on a real golf course. At this time, we can invite them to Education City Golf Club to further their development in the sport.”

As for Commercial Bank, it has donated ten customized SNAG kit bags that include enough equipment to train up to 16 teachers at a time. Hussein Al Abdulla, Chief Marketing Officer at Commercial Bank said: “Our latest partnership with ECGC comes to attest to our commitment as a bank to support our local community and promote Qatar National Vision 2030. In other words, we highly value sport activities as they build healthier relationships in the society and bring people together.”

Abeer Marwan Al Kalla, Head of Strategic Marketing Developments at Commercial Bank, said: “We, at Commercial Bank are pleased to partner with Education City Golf Club and Gulf English School to contribute SNAG kits to the school and to provide teachers and students alike with the right equipment to keep on practicing golf.

“Golf is not only a classy and sophisticated sport; it is an activity that helps us practice skills such as concentration and learn values such as patience and persistence to achieve objectives. As a Bank and as members in this community, this initiative reflects our commitment to support our community’s growth and development.”

Daniel Langfield, Head of Secondary – Assistant Executive Director at The Gulf English School welcomed the initiative and said: “It is great to get our students here at The Gulf English School involved in golf and encourage them to be active and lead healthy lives. The initiative set up by Commercial Bank and Education City Golf Club is fantastic. It has allowed our students to visit the golf club and experience golf first hand. I would like to thank Commercial Bank for donating SNAG Golf sets to the school so that we can use them within PE lessons and as extra-curricular golf sessions.”
