Qatar affirmed its keenness to adopt a holistic and integrated approach within the framework of its international efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace, stressing the need for the approach to focus on laying the foundations for peace, security and stability coupled with providing support to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

HE Sheikha Alya said that Qatar has drawn attention to establishing peace and stability by supporting the African continent.

She also referred to Qatar's role as an international partner of Somalia, noting that its role ranged from providing urgent humanitarian aid when it is needed to financing long-term development projects, including the infrastructure and job opportunities, in addition to its support for the United Nations Trust Fund for Peace and Reconciliation in Somalia and the provision of security and financial assistance.

HE Sheikha Alya also pointed out that Qatar repeatedly stressed the importance of involving women in peacemaking and in post-conflict stages and ensuring their rights, as this has proven to be one of the favourable factors for the success of peacebuilding efforts. She emphasised that Qatar attaches importance to supporting the youth, adding that supporting education, social development and providing job opportunities are among the practical measures involved in Qatar's efforts to provide support at the international level.

The ambassador praised the pioneering and distinguished roles of Qatar in providing humanitarian and emergency aid in order to alleviate the humanitarian impacts of crises, support the central role of the United Nations in the humanitarian field and provide assistance to those in need around the world. She pointed to Qatar's support for the role of the international organisation in the development fields, adding that it is an active and fundamental role in addressing the factors of fragility, stressing that Qatar will continue to adhere to this responsibility and play a positive and effective role.

HE Sheikha Alya stated that the continuous development and complexity of the various aspects of preserving, building and sustaining peace requires a coordinated, effective and comprehensive response that keeps pace with these emerging developments, expressing her satisfaction in seeing the increasing interest by the Security Council in these aspects in order to best perform the important mandate entrusted to it in the maintenance of international peace and security.
