A virtual condolence meeting was recently held by Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) on the demise of Dr Mohammed Sabih Bukhari (57), a businessman, philanthropist and patron of AMUAAQ, who passed away on December 21.
The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Sadiq Khan followed by its Urdu translation and 'Dua e Maghfirat'. Dr Ashna Nusrat delivered a keynote address on the life and achievements of late M S Bukhari. Prof Tariq Mansoor, AMU vice-chancellor, expressed his condolences over the death of M S Bukhari. He said that their thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family. He said AMU and the alumni association Qatar stand shoulder to shoulder with the family in this difficult time.
Sophia Bukhari, wife of late Bukhari, said he was a great man. “His presence at home was like a bulbul in the garden. He was a very supportive and happy-hearted person in his life. He always welcomed everyone with a smile.” She thanked the alumni association and the Indian community as whole for remembering M S Bukhari.
Bukhari’s close friend Mohd Nabi spoke about the transient nature of life while paying rich tributes to the departed soul. P N Baburajan, president of Indian Community Benevolent Forum, expressed his deep sorrow and sympathy towards Bukhari’s family. Milan Arun, former president of Indian Cultural Centre, said he was a kind and gentle person. He owned his signature style of presence. Shahabuddin Ahmed, Bazm e sadaf Urdu Academy, expressed his heartfelt sympathy to Bukhari’s family.
Jawed Ahmed, president of AMUAAQ, also expressed deep sorrow on the death. While paying tribute to Bukhari, Jawed said that his contributions were tremendous and it is a big loss for the whole Aligs fraternity. The president had a discussion on a M S Bukhari Award every year. An incomplete short film on Bukhari was also played for four minutes which will be completed by Shahid as requested by the alumni president.

Irfanullah, Rashid Chisti, Gufran Ali Khan, S Akbar Bukhari, Sanjeev Sharma, Mohammed Naim, Anish George, Arshad Haque, Rafat Jahan, Johny Foster, Deepak Shetty, Shahid Tandon, Rashmi Agarwal, Naved Alam, Anshu Jain, Irfan Mohammed Khan, Syed Mohd Zakiullah, and Khalid Hussain expressed condolences.
