Ambassador of Indonesia to Qatar Ridwan Hassan underlined his country's keenness on developing cooperation with Qatar at all levels, based on the distinguished bilateral relations.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador underlined that Qatar is an important partner for Indonesia in various fields, and that his country looks forward to increasing the mutual co-operation in trade, investment, tourism and other areas.

The ambassador added that the Indonesian Government, through the Indonesian community groups in Qatar, will also continue to improve people-to-people contact, noting that the appointment of Indonesia as a Country Partner for the 2023 Qatar-Indonesia Year of Culture is highly appreciated and will strengthen the relations between Indonesia and Qatar.

The envoy extended heartiest congratulations and greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and to all the honorable people of Qatar on the occasion of Qatar National Day. He noted that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1976, Indonesia has always perceived Qatar not only as important player for business and economy in the region and the world, but also a growing player on the arena of international politics.

Indonesia always shares same vision with Qatar in building a more prosperous, just and safer world. He noted that the endeavour of Qatar and Indonesia to end the conflict in Afghanistan is exemplary evidence how the two countries are really keen on building a better world. On the other hand, the Indonesian envoy said that he was certainly amazed to see how the Government of Qatar has worked to prepare every single detail for hosting the 2022 World Cup, stressing that the preparations are incredible, and that Indonesia believes that the 2022 World Cup would be a fantastic one!

He underlined that the Indonesian Government and the Indonesian people in Qatar are ready to work hand in hand with Qatar to make the 2022 World Cup a memorable event. Meanwhile, the Indonesian envoy underlined that Qatar is one of the most successful countries in the world in handling the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and has proved that it has one of the most effective healthcare systems in the world.

In this context, he expressed the Indonesian Government's gratitude for all the assistance provided by the Qatar medical authorities to Indonesian citizens infected by the coronavirus and received medical care in Qatar, adding that Indonesia also appreciates the decision made by the Government of Qatar to open its airport as a transit point for repatriating citizens from all over the world including from Indonesia to get back to their home countries.
