Ambassador of Ghana to Qatar Emmanuel Enos underlined that Qatar has made giant strides in its endeavour to achieve progress, prosperity and comprehensive development, praising its pivotal role in promoting peace, stability and development in the world.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said that the socio-economic development of Qatar has been phenomenal, even in the midst of the blockade, adding that it is also heartening to commend Qatar for its pivotal role in promoting peace, stability and development among the comity of nations. The ambassador congratulated His Highness the Amir, the Government and the people of Qatar on the joyous occasion of National Day, wishing the country more progress and prosperity.
He also conveyed the heartfelt felicitations from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, for his tremendous support and commitment to strengthening the relations between the two countries. In this context, the ambassador underlined that Ghana and Qatar have long-standing bilateral relations, and share common aspirations in the fields of international politics, peace, security and stability, trade and commerce and human development.
He noted that the two countries have exchanged and signed a number of bilateral agreements in diverse fields towards deepening and enhancing the mutual cooperation. As a further bold step in strengthening the existing relations between Ghana and Qatar, Qatar Airways launched its long-awaited maiden flight from Doha to Accra through Lagos on September 29, 2020, the ambassador added.
The envoy stressed that the launch of Qatar Airways flight to Accra is the mark of enhanced bilateral relations between the two countries, which continue to be growing from strength to strength. On Qatar's efforts to contain the coronavirus crisis, the ambassador of Ghana commended the efforts exerted by the Qatari government to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus virus though its effectively comprehensive strategies and highly elaborate and timely interventions.
He added that Qatar followed the highest standards of healthcare for Covid-19 patients and the elaborate testing opportunities placed at the disposal of the population by the government were admirable best practices worthy of emulation by the entire world. The ambassador also commended the different forms of assistance such as medical aid, equipment and other logistics extended by Qatar to support other countries in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
