Complaints related to cheques can be filed through the Interior Ministry website and the new initiative is available for companies, banks and individuals, it was announced on Monday.

The Capital, Al-Rayyan, North, South and Dukhan Security departments have started receiving online reports about cheques, the MoI said in a statement.

One of the major advantages of the new system is that a complainant or the PRO need not visit the security department concerned to submit a manual report . It also helps departments expedite the completion of transactions.

Hassan Ali al-Buainain, assistant director of Al-Rayyan Security Department, said the complainant, whether individual or authorised persons of establishments, can log in to the service and submit a report by attaching all the documents required. Once submitted, the department concerned will review the report and the required documents and confirm their validity. Subsequently, a text message will be sent via Metrash stating the successful receipt of the report and its reference number.

In case any further document is required, the complainant will get a text message in order to complete the case procedures and refer it to the Public Prosecution in accordance with the law.

The complainant can also inquire about the status of the case through the electronic follow up service by giving the details of the case, the MoI said adding that the facility was launched in the framework of facilitating and enhancing online services provided to the public.
