Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has issued a statement confirming that the news circulating on social media, regarding a reduction in the maximum daily cash withdrawal from ATMs to QR5,000, is incorrect and unfounded.
In the statement on its website, QCB said what was circulating - based on a forged circular not issued by the central bank - is nothing but a rumour.
QCB stressed the need for accuracy and to obtain information from official sources only, and not to convey news and circulars issued by unknown parties.
The central bank also stressed that it reserves the right to take legal action against those who spread rumours.
