The Public Parks Department, in co-operation with Qatar Primary School for Girls, has held a tree-planting campaign at the school.
A number of Sedr trees and Indian Jasmine shrubs were planted alongside 300 seasonal flowering plants at the school gardens.
The event took place in the presence of some administrative staff of the school and a number of pupils. It was part of the efforts of the school to achieve and support sustainability and related environmental policies.
The sustainable development team at the school praised the Public Parks Department's experiments in using the waterboxx technology in planting trees, and hoped to adopt it to plant more Sedr trees and explain to the pupils how the system works.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)’s Public Parks Department, in co-operation with Qatar Sports for All Federation, has taken part in a planting event at the Old Airport park as part of the initiative to plant 1mn trees. Tree seedlings, shrubs, and seasonal flowers were planted.
Doha Municipality's gardens section head Mohamed Abdullah Abbas, Desert Rally champion Mohamed Nasser al-Meer and Abdullah Mohamed al-Dossari, head of activities and events at Qatar Sports for All Federation, were present at the event, along with a number of garden specialists at the MME and a number of employees and officials of the federation.
