Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB), the exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar, has conducted a joint cleanup campaign with the Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP), a volunteering organisation involved in the fight against plastic pollution and dune/beach cleanup movement in Qatar.
The event was part of the Qatar Sustainability Week 2020 activities.
The sand dune clean-up was held at the Singing Dunes, approximately 40km southwest of Doha near Al Wakrah Municipality.
AAB employees, together with DEAP volunteers, carried out the cleaning operation across the area for an hour. Around 400kg of plastics and non-biodegradable wastes were collected within that time.
"This highlights the importance of every person’s role when interacting in nature where care and responsibility is imperative in order to
create a sustainable future for the next generation. The local green community is able to make a difference in this event in keeping Qatar clean," AAB said in a statement.
Social distancing and health measures were in place during the cleanup.
"AAB is proud to be one of DEAP’s main partners in their endeavour and advocacy for a greener environment," the statement added. "AAB is fully committed to giving back to the community through its CSR initiatives with one of its major pillars focused on caring for the environment. This commitment is reflected in its support to programmes geared towards a 'Green Qatar'.
"Its continuing partnership with the Public Parks Department in the Seedlings to your Home and Reduction of Carbon Footprint projects promote environmental care. Its collaboration with DEAP reinforces and manifests AAB’s commitment and active role in contributing towards the fulfilment of Qatar National Vision 2030."
