Ooredoo has announced that it is a Strategic Sponsor of the hybrid edition of Ajyal Film Festival — the eighth edition of the event — set to be held from today until November 23. Ajyal Film Festival, the Doha Film Institute’s annual signature event, is a unique initiative that inspires creative interaction and cultural exchange among youth and the wider community.
Ajyal is designed to bring communities in Qatar, including both Qatari citizens and residents, together through film screenings and film-related events.
For the third consecutive year, Ooredoo will present the Made in Qatar programme, premiering tomorrow to amplify talented young voices in the country’s growing film community, the company has said in a statement. Building on the continued success of the festival and its standout jury programme, DFI is presenting an adapted edition this year with most activities being delivered online to offer participants a safe event experience. The hybrid event format expands the spirit of Ajyal into an inclusive virtual space for immersive creative expression and community. Ajyal’s most popular events — film screenings, the Made in Qatar programme, the Ajyal Creativity Hub featuring Geekdom, Ajyal Tunes, art exhibitions from local talents and the Ajyal Talks series – will return for participants of all ages from the safety of their homes, the statement notes.
Screenings and events at the festival are intended to support creative interaction, stimulate cinematic dialogue and inspire communities to experience the transformative power of film, as well as showcase the best talents from Qatar and the world. The adapted edition of Ajyal will present 80 films from 46 countries, including 16 films in the Made in Qatar programme presented by Ooredoo.
Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari, director of PR at Ooredoo, said: “We’re delighted to be the Strategic Sponsor for this worthwhile community event again this year, as part of our corporate social responsibility strategy.
Supporting our local communities, and promoting arts and culture, is a huge priority for Ooredoo, as is encouraging the young people of our communities to reach their potential, and we look forward to seeing the incredible talents on show.”
