The Shura Council held its regular weekly meeting on Monday under the chairmanship of HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.

At the outset of the meeting, the Shura Council discussed a decree Law No. (16) of 2020 amending some provisions of Decree Law No (11) of 2012 on the governmental regulation for the sale and purchase of chemical and petrochemical products produced in Qatar. After discussion, the Council approved the decree-law and decided to refer its recommendations thereon to the Cabinet.

The Council also discussed Decree Law No. 18 of 2020 amending certain provisions of Labour Law No. 14 of 2004. After discussion, the Council decided to refer the decree-law to the Public Services and Utilities Committee and submit a report on it to the Council.

During the session, HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud briefed the Council on the meetings and conferences he held, via video technology, during the Council's break. HE the speaker headed Qatar's delegation in the 13th periodic meeting of Their Excellencies, GCC Presidents of Legislative Councils (the Shura Councils, Council of Representatives, the Federal National Council, and the National Assembly), which was held on July 21. HE also headed Qatar's delegation in the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament and participated in the work of the 206th Session of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), during which a new IPU president was elected.

HE briefed the Council on the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption meeting, which was held under his chairmanship on July 14 and took a set of decisions aimed at achieving the goals of the organization. The Organisation continued its work on November 8, where it discussed and approved its future activities and programs.

HE also briefed the Council on his meeting with the Chairman of Libya's High Council, Khaled Ammar al-Mishri, which was held in Doha early November, during which, they reviewed the cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries, especially in the parliamentary field and ways to support and develop them, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the situation in Libya.

HE the Speaker of the Shura Council praised the wide and distinguished activity of the members of the Council who participated, during the break of the Council through visual communication technology, in more than 20 activities at the regional and international levels and addressed many important issues.
