Al Sheehaniya Municipality, a member of the Unesco Global Network of Learning Cities, in co-operation with Qatar Charity (QC), launched birdbaths in Sheehaniya Park. The birdbaths are designed in the form of a bathhouse according to the traditional Qatari architectural identity, with the aim of caring for the birds in Qatar.
Jaber Hassan al-Jaber, director of Al Sheehaniya Municipality, thanked Qatar Charity for its co-operation in the project, rooted in the Qatari  heritage and derived from the teachings of Islam.
Jassim Mohamed al-Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at QC, hoped that the public would support the birthbath project, which could be expanded to other public gardens or wherever birds gather, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
QC had earlier educated the community through the Suqia project on the necessity of preserving the tradition of providing water for birds, especially in the summer season. Picture above shows officials at the launch of the birdbath.
