Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad yesterday and discussed “professional matters pertaining to Pakistan Army, internal and external security situation”, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
While referring to “recent efforts to stoke violence in Pakistan”, the PM expressed the resolve that the entire nation was united “against the cowardly acts of the enemy”, the PMO quoted the prime minister as saying in a tweet.
He also paid tribute to personnel from Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and law enforcement agencies “who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the motherland”.
The meeting follows a bomb blast inside a mosque in Peshawar, where a large number of seminary students were attending a class on Tuesday morning, which killed eight students and wounded about 120 others.
