Barwa Real Estate launched yesterday construction works for a residential city for families and a workers' accommodation project, both of which are located in Al Wakra city.
The two projects, Madinatna and Barahat Al Janoub, were launched at a ceremony held in the presence of HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, who is also chairman of Barwa Real Estate; Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy secretary-general Hassan al-Thawadi; and Public Works Authority (Ashghal) president Dr Saad bin Ahmed al-Mohannadi.
During the event, Barwa signed an awarding contract with UrbaCon Trading and Contracting (UCC) for the construction works of the two projects. Abdulla bin Jobara al-Romaihi, acting Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate, and Ramez al-Khayyat, managing director of UCC, signed the contract in the presence of UCC chairman Moutaz al-Khayyat.
Madinatna is a residential project for families in Al Wakra city spanning 1,141,689sqm. It will provide a high-quality standard of living for different segments of the community as well as various integrated facilities associated with modern cities. Madinatna will consist of residential buildings with designs inspired by the traditional Qatari architecture.
The project will offer a group of buildings, varying between G+4 and G+4+penthouse, and equipped with the latest smart city technologies. Madinatna will offer 6,780 apartments, of which 2,040 are two-bedroom units and 4,740 three-bedroom units, with a total capacity of approximately 27,000 people.
It will provide various services, such as a hypermarket, retail stores, mosques and other public utility services, bringing the total built-up area to approximately 1,035,554sq m. The strategic location of Madinatna in Al Wakra Municipality, Umm Bishr area, will be "a great privilege for those who will benefit from the project in the future", Barwa has stressed in a statement.
The project is located along G-Ring Road, which connects the area to the southern regions, Industrial Area and highways such as Al Majd Road and Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor.
The location provides easy access to Ras Bu Abboud Street, the Corniche and the centre of Doha city via the Sabah Al Ahmad axis, also connecting Hamad International Airport (HIA) with Umm Lekhba Interchange on Al Shamal Road.
Moreover, Madinatna’s proximity to modern public transport facilities such as the Al Wakra and other Doha Metro stations, and a number of public bus service lines, will add many advantages to the location from both the residential and commercial perspectives. This is in addition to its proximity to Al Thumama Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium.
The retail outlets and other services at Barwa Village will also serve the project due to the close location of the two cities, as well as its proximity to Mesaimeer city and Masaken Mesaimeer, Al Wakra Hospital and all recreational facilities in Al Wakra city, including beaches and parks.
On the other hand, Barahat Al Janoub will be a fully integrated city for workers in Al Wakra city, following the highest international standards of implementation. The project extends over 773,457sqm, with a design inspired by Arab homes with courtyards.
It will consist of 1,404 G+2 units equipped with smart city technology, offering 16,848 rooms , each accommodating up to four persons. Barahat Al Janoub will accommodate approximately 67,360 workers, providing residents with various service facilities, such as hypermarkets, retail stores, mosques and other public services, bringing the total built-up area to approximately 750,742sqm.
The project is located next to Al Wakra Central Market on Mesaieed Road, and is near developmental projects and sustainable facilities such as the Al Wakrah logistics district, Umm Al Houl Free Zone, Hamad Port and HIA, in addition to facilities in Al Wakra city such as hospitals and stadiums.
Barahat Al Janoub is connected to the highway network, which adds value to the distinctive location of the project and "provides an extra privilege for companies looking to accommodate their workers in an integrated city".
