DPS-Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) culminated its ‘Rendezvous 2020-21’ with the online result declaration ceremony recently. This year, keeping the health conditions in mind, the annual inter-house activity fest was conducted online during the summer break.
The occasion was graced by Asna Nafees, MIS principal; Soma Bhattacharjee, vice principal Senior Secondary School; Mary Cruz, vice principal Senior School; Shifa P Shaikh, vice principal Junior School; and Sini Menon, headmistress Junior School.
Asna Nafees commended efforts of the students and the teachers in the successful execution of the events. She stated that DPS-MIS has risen above the normal by putting its best foot forward to overcome all obstacles. All activities and ceremonies were conducted with great elan as per the year planner, providing holistic development to all enthusiastic students.
Soma Bhattacharjee congratulated all the team members and extolled the students for their enthusiasm to participate. She also highlighted the importance of collaborative team efforts in the successful completion of an event. Mary Cruz inspired the young minds with her words of wisdom and mentioned that such competitions develop life skills and prepare the students for their future endeavours.
The ‘newsletter’ released by Senior School and a video presentation ‘Rendezvous 2020’ by Middle School provided a glimpse into the activities conducted during the months of July and August. As many as 14 competitions for Middle School and 18 for Senior School, which included events like poetry writing, story writing, poster making, spell bee, scavenger hunt debate, group dance, digital logo designing, app development, and acapella, were organised using Zoom or Microsoft Teams platforms.
Rules and regulations for the competition were laid and shared with the students by the respective house wardens, which ensured smooth functioning of the events online. The participants from all the four houses – Lily, Lotus, Tulip and Rose – added to the winning streak of their houses.
Tulip House emerged as the winner in the Middle School, and Lotus House topped the medal tally in Senior School. However, on compilation of the results of both the sections – Middle School and Senior School – Tulip House bagged the first position followed by Lotus House, Lily House and Rose House for the second, third and fourth positions respectively.
The ceremony concluded with the DPS-MIS United Rendezvous Band video. It was anchored by Arya Kanade, head girl, and Mohak Vaswani, head boy, under the guidance of Soma Bhattacharjee, Priti Ketanbhai Modi, activity co-ordinator for Grade-IX to XII, and Chinmayee Pathak, activity co-ordinator for Grade-VI to VIII. The vote of thanks was proposed by Anushka Jain, president, Student Council Girls, and Moussab Zaz, president, Student Council Boys. The cultural bonanza was also a thumping success.
