Queens Meeting Queens, blogger’s meetup, recently saw its soft launch as a social networking and gathering platform for the bloggers in Doha. The event was organised by two influencers – Mahdiya Farook and Nazma Mazhar – in an attempt to bridge the gap between social networking and interaction to contribute to the growth of all influencers in Doha.
The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the demand for companies reaching out to influencers to promote their products and it was important to create a platform for the influencers to network and understand the market better. The initial meeting had to be restricted to smaller numbers due to the health precautions but going forward the team hopes to include more bloggers who can benefit through workshops, engagement, and social gatherings. The meetups will be focused on introducing bloggers to various platforms, tips, upskilling and even assisting them in reaching out to clients.
“Women are generally tribal beings and like to stick to social circles. By bringing in women together, we can use social circle not just to have a good time but support and uplift each other,” says Mahdiya. Both Mahdiya and Nazma have their own social media handles which are primarily focused on empowering women to achieve their goals in life. They follow the philosophy that when women join hands, instead of competing with each other, they achieve better success in life.
Mahdiya works for a private organisation as the head of programmes. She is a personal development coach and runs her media handle on Instagram under Shafmahdiaries which features internationally influential women. She is also a mental health advocate and YouTuber. Nazma is a social activist who was featured in Al Jazeera for her project on ‘Henna Crown’ on cancer patients. She is the founder of her Instagram handle LightUp2020.
