The Qatar Calendar House will hold an online educational course for three days, entitled "Introduction to Astronomy," next Saturday.
The course, to be presented by astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House Dr. Bashir Marzouq, aims to provide participants with information about astronomy and its origin, celestial bodies and the most important astronomical phenomena and instruments.
On the first day, the course will include the definition of astronomy, its various specialisations, its importance, and origin. On the second day, the participants will learn about celestial bodies and their types, with an explanation of the various celestial bodies such as planets, moons, and meteors. Distant objects, such as galaxies and their different types, as well as stars, their composition and types will also be introduced.
The third day will be devoted to the topic of observations, astronomical phenomena, astronomical instruments, and astronomical telescopes and their various types, as well as astronomical phenomena within our solar system and its importance such as solar phenomena, conjunction, convergence, invisibility, elongation and others.
The Calendar House said that other specialised courses will be offered during the coming period in times, crescent and astronomical observation. The astronomical monitoring courses will be theoretical and practical through modern devices and telescopes.
