The Ministry of Municipality and Environment announced the results of a drawing competition it organised to educate children about the necessary preventive and precautionary measures to confront the repercussions of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, as well as encourage artistic talents and develop their awareness.
The competition, which targeted children between the ages of 6 and 12, was organised and advertised on the ministry’s social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube), and an email was allocated to receive the participating drawings, in accordance with specific conditions and criteria.
Some 285 expressive drawings on the Covid-19 pandemic and how to confront it were received.
The competition aimed to raise awareness among all segments of society, especially children, about how to confront the pandemic in terms of health control, public hygiene, disinfection and sanitation, and social distancing as well as correcting their habits and behaviours in dealing with various life matters in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to taking the necessary measures to avoid exposure to the virus, within the framework of the ministry’s interest to enhance communication and partnership between it and the various groups of society, especially children and their families.
In another context, the first preparatory meeting between the Department of Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory in the Environmental Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, and the Environmental Science Center at Qatar University was held yesterday via video conferencing to discuss the annual trip to monitor the quality of the marine environment in the territorial waters of Qatar during November.
This meeting is considered one of the important coordination meetings between the teams of the monitoring and environmental laboratory department, and researchers from the Environmental Sciences Center at Qatar University.
These efforts come to protect the Qatari environment, its resources and their sustainability.
