Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) celebrates World Patient Safety Day, which falls on Sept 17 each year, and aims to enhance community understanding of patient safety and intensify community participation.

The PHCC works continuously to ensure patient safety through the various services provided and the community partnership that will lead to continuous improvement and development in the corporation at all levels.

Dr Amal Abdulla al-Ali, Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety Directorate at PHCC, affirmed that the corporation aims to spare patients, visitors and workers the risks and accidents that they may encounter while obtaining health care, as the corporation focuses on continuous learning and the accumulation of experiences and expertise.

She pointed out that the corporation has adopted the World Health Organisation's slogan, which is 'Health Worker Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety,' though which PHCC emphasises the importance of health worker safety and its connection to patient safety. It also appreciates the dedication and hard work of workers, especially in combating Covid-19 pandemic.

World Patient Safety Day will be celebrated by the corporation through launching a group of events targeting its employees and society members, in order to emphasise the principle of partnership between the two parties. The events also involve a set of activities, including launching a drawing competition for all segments of society, as well as launching a poetry competition that targets all staff.

Additionally, there will be a competition for designing the logo for risk management and patient safety, and the contest 'Communication Between Doctor and Patient' which aims to enhance the value of joint communication between PHCC's physicians and patients.
