The Head of Taliban's Political office in Qatar Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for Qatar's hosting the Afghan peace negotiations.

In a speech during the opening session of the talks that began on Saturday in Doha, Baradar thanked HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, appreciating the role of Qatar and all international efforts made to achieve the peace process in Afghanistan.

He stressed the Taliban's desire to build peace and stability for the future of Afghanistan through negotiations, noting the points of disagreement that might obstruct the negotiations, stressing that the Taliban took into consideration all points of agreement and built on them, and called on the other party to do the same to make the process proceed smoothly.

He asked both sides to pay attention during the negotiations to the teachings of the true Islamic religion, taking into account the interests of all spectrums of the Afghan people and not part of it.

He pointed to the problems and obstacles that may face the negotiation process, stressing the need to move forward with patience and caution and make all efforts in the interest of the people of Afghanistan.

He noted that the Taliban are working in the interest of the people, assuring that Taliban will pursue peace negotiations and will pave the way for achieving stability in Afghanistan.

He stressed the need for the world to support these negotiations in order to unite the country and to achieve progress and development in the presence of a system that takes into account the interests of all people.
